Rites of Spring 2006

Put on by The Capitol Chapter & The Great Lakes Dual Sporters


New is the word for the 2006 Rites of Spring. A new location to stage from. New courses that you've not run in this area before. New stories, new friends, new adventures - just great stuff.

The Event is held at the Montmorency County Fairgrounds in Atlanta, Michigan.

Off-Road Only Route:

There will be 2-3 off-road, two-wheel only routes ranging in length from 15 to nearly 80 miles. The 80 mile loop will now have gas available at a specified gas/lunch stop. There will be a kids loop available which is roughly 20 miles.

ATVs will also be welcome and will utilize a separate ATV route.

Dual Sport Route:

New location and even better routes for 2006! Dual Sport will run you through winding two tracks that you swear never end. Just when you are certain it can't get better you'll turn a corner and be amazed at the scenic wonders that abound. Just enough challenges and too much good stuff are what we have laid out. Two loops, with shorter options, gas and food on both routes. One loop is 120 miles, the other 110. Must be street legal and meet ORV requirements for spark & 94db sound check. Route Sheets, Maps and GPS info all at sign up.

Novice Ride:

Novice Rides are a special feature for beginning adult trail riders put on by the Tri-County Chapter. Look for pre-registration and relative info in the April edition of your Trail Rider magazine.

Rider Education:

For under-16 riders’ Safety Certificate. Call the C.C.C. Office at (517) 781-4805 for registration information prior to the event.

Camping:

Camping will be $10 per night for improved rustic. Camping on grass with some lighting. There are no hook up sites available. Gate does not open until Friday morning - you WILL NOT be able to get into the fairgrounds before Friday morning.

Meals:

Meals: The Montmorency Fairground Board will have a Spaghetti dinner on Friday at a cost of $4.50 per person. Saturday Night buffet dinner at $8.50 per person, children will be less.Lunch available at the gas stop.

Friday evening: 5:00 - 8:00.
Saturday 8:00 - Noon.
Sunday 8:00 - 11:00.

Family Weekend
$35.00 2 days


Requirements:

  • Must be current member of CCC. Memberships available at sign up.
  • Must have current ORV sticker, (available at signup).
  • Must have U.S. Forest Service approved spark arrestor and pass 94dbA sound test (very important, we do test and fail loud bikes).

 

RIDER’S MEETING

8pm Friday and 8am Saturday. Please try to attend one or the other for important rules changes and permit updates.

Directions:

I-75 to M-32 East at Gaylord, east to M-33 North at Atlanta, then 2.5 miles north on M-33. Montmorency County Fairgrounds are on the west side of M-33. All Campers will use the northern-most entrance to the Fairgrounds directly across from the DNR Headquarters and will be directed from there on where they can park and camp. All area will be signed.
